Project GreenSource is PointSource's way of assuring that we are a responsible corporate citizen.
PointSource knows that business success depends upon balancing economic, social and environmental objectives. We know that corporate responsibility and sustainability is a way of life and not just an end point.
The Project GreenSource program was established to provide our information technology expertise to our clients for their social and environmental objectives, as well as our own. Some of the initiatives under Project GreenSource include:
Contribute and Invest Technological Expertise
PointSource has actively contributed technological expertise pro bono towards our clients' social and environmental programs in several ways. From designing custom software solutions to providing our application lifecycle management services, we strive to make sure the right tools are available to the individuals trying to make a difference.
Ensure Members of Our Supply Chain are Responsible Corporate Citizens
PointSource aims to ensure that all members of our supply chain are responsible corporate citizens by our own high standards. While PointSource does not manufacture a product, we acknowledge that the information technology sector can contribute to social and environmental stewardship in many ways, including energy conservation initiatives in our data centers to lawful and ethical use of off shore resources.
Philanthropy
PointSource believes that corporations are uniquely positioned to leverage their strengths and give back to their communities. Volunteerism, financial donations and forging lasting business relationships with not-for profits are all ways that PointSource incorporates these ideals into the fabric of our company culture. PointSource supports numerous charities, both financially and by providing technological expertise and services.
PointSource Initiatives
Through helping other organizations with their social and environmental objectives, we at PointSource have been able to take away lessons learned from some of the largest companies involved with corporate sustainability and responsibility. This involvement has prompted us to provide strategic guidelines for all PointSource employees and partners to follow. Our 10-Point Plan includes:
- Make use of IBM's Big Green Innovations in data center operations, computing and application design;
- Ensure all off shore resources are socially responsible organizations;
- Provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees;
- Implement a carbon offset purchase program;
- Provide telecommuting options to employees;
- Implement an environment-friendly products purchasing policy;
- Identify and pursue opportunities to conserve energy, water and natural resources;
- Use recycled materials whenever possible;
- Provide recycling bins in all offices for paper, glass, cans and bottles; and
- Share experiences with customers and partners on effective paths towards social and environmental responsibility.
